How often do you update our bookkeeping?
We work on a monthly cadence by default. Transactions are pulled in through your bank feed and reconciled by the 10th of the following month, so you always have a clean set of numbers within 10 working days of month-end. For VAT-registered businesses, we tighten this to a fortnightly review so quarterly VAT returns can be filed without last-minute rush.
Which payroll software do you use?
We run payroll through BrightPay and Xero Payroll depending on your setup. Both are HMRC-recognised and handle RTI submissions, auto-enrolment for workplace pensions, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP). If you already use a different system we can either work within yours or migrate you to ours — whichever is cleaner.
What happens if my bookkeeping is behind?
We start with a one-off catch-up engagement to bring your records up to date before moving to monthly. The catch-up fee depends on how many months you're behind and the volume of transactions. For most micro businesses that's 1-3 months behind, we typically charge £300-£800 as a one-off. After that, monthly fees apply normally.
Can you handle CIS deductions and submissions?
Yes — we handle both sides of CIS. For contractors making payments to subcontractors, we verify subbies with HMRC, calculate the correct 20%/30%/0% deduction, file the monthly CIS300 return, and issue payment and deduction statements. For subcontractors, we reclaim deducted CIS through Self Assessment or by setting against PAYE liabilities for limited companies.
Do you offer real-time reporting and management accounts?
Yes, on Growth and Scale tiers. You get a monthly P&L and balance sheet, plus we set up Xero dashboards so you can see live cash position, debtor days, and key margins without waiting for a report. For businesses with growth plans, we'll add cashflow forecasting and scenario modelling — often the most valuable part of working with us.
